Reno Fire: One person, dog killed in Panther Valley mobile home fire

The Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office on Tuesday released the name the person who died following as Lorene Vagts, 62, of Reno.

"The cause and manner of death are pending further investigation," according to a 4:345 p.m. press release. "The Reno Fire Department is the lead agency investigating the cause of the fire."

One person is dead after a fire destroyed two mobile homes in Panther Valley in north Reno Thursday afternoon, officials confirmed.

Jerry Kosak, battalion chief with Reno Fire Department, told the RGJ crews responded to the fire on Ranger Road at approximately 2 p.m. Thursday.

Two double-wide modular homes at the West Ranger Road mobile home park were destroyed before the fire was extinguished.

One person who was inside one of the mobile homes died, Kosak said. That person's name has not been released, pending next-of-kin notification.

A dog that was outside one of the homes also died, Kosak said. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
